Ethiopian opals provide a much cheaper alternative. This cheaper price is mainly because Ethiopian opals have much higher natural water content than Australian opals. This high water content can make them unstable long-term, losing color or vibrancy. Your Australian opal’s color will never be affected by changes in humidity or temperature.
